Premium thermal protection,
built for the rooftop.

TrueShop's Water Tank Cover reduces solar heat gain, keeps stored water cooler, and shields the tank from UV, dust and rain — using a cap-closure design with adjustable tightening belts for a complete, secure fit over any standard tank.

See it on the roof

Reflective aluminium shell, heavy-duty tightening belts, and a cap-closure top — wrapped over the tank in minutes, no tools required.

  • Tool-free DIY installation, fits standard rooftop tanks
  • Belts compress snugly to resist wind movement
  • Premium cap design seals the top against direct sun
  • Aluminium surface visibly reflects rooftop sunlight

Every layer earns its place.

Heat has to get through all four before it reaches the water — each layer does a different job, from reflection to structural toughness.

01
Reflective Aluminium Surface
Reflects solar radiation, minimizes heat absorption, and protects against UV degradation.
02
Air Bubble Insulation Layer
Traps air pockets that resist heat transfer through conduction, forming a true thermal barrier.
03
Heavy-Duty Raffia Reinforcement
Adds structural strength, durability, and puncture resistance through daily rooftop wear.
04
Aluminium Back Layer
A second reflective surface for additional thermal bounce-back and overall insulation efficiency.

The cover doesn't cool water — it stops the heat from getting in.

Temperature

Solar radiation hits the aluminium shell and is reflected before it ever reaches the tank wall. What does get through is slowed by 12mm of trapped-air insulation. The result is a tank surface that runs noticeably cooler under the same midday sun.

Actual results depend on sunlight exposure, tank colour, pipe insulation, water usage and installation quality.

Heat reaches a tank in three ways.
The cover answers all three.

A

Radiation

Sunlight strikes the tank directly, carrying infrared energy that heats the surface on contact.
Reflective aluminium bounces solar radiation away before it's absorbed.
B

Conduction

Heat that does land on the surface travels inward through the tank wall toward the water.
12mm of air-bubble insulation slows that heat transfer to a crawl.
C

Convection

Hot air circulating around an exposed tank continually transfers warmth into its surface.
The insulation layer creates a thermal separation from surrounding hot air.

Five steps. No tools.

1

Place the Cover

Wrap the insulated cover around the tank body.

2

Fit the Cap

Install the cap closure over the top for full coverage.

3

Fasten Belts

Secure the adjustable tightening belts in place.

4

Adjust for Fit

Pull belts snug so the cover sits without gaps.

5

Done

Cooler water and a protected tank, from day one.

Why some customers feel "it's not working."

The cover insulates the tank body — but a few other factors can quietly undo that work if left unaddressed.

Biggest cause

Exposed Metal (GI) Pipes

Sun-heated inlet, outlet or overflow pipes act as a conductor — even at 50–60°C, they keep feeding heat into otherwise cool water. Insulate every exposed GI/PVC fitting too.

Timing

Tank Already Hot

Installing at 2 PM won't instantly cool water that's already heated. The cover prevents further heat gain — best results show after 24–48 hours.

Tank colour

Black vs White Tank

Black tanks absorb far more solar energy than white ones, even when insulated, so the starting heat load is simply higher.

Fit

Improper Installation

A loose cap, slack belts, or exposed gaps give heat a direct way in. A snug, complete fit is what makes the insulation work.

Water flow

Low Consumption

Stagnant water slowly drifts toward ambient temperature regardless of insulation. Regular usage keeps fresher, cooler water cycling through.

Mounting surface

Tank on a Metal Shed

Tin sheds, metal rooftops or sun-baked concrete transfer heat upward from below — the cover protects the sides and top, not the base.

Customer disclaimer — Actual temperature reduction depends on weather conditions, tank colour, water usage, installation quality, and insulation of connected pipes. For best results, ensure the tank is fully covered, belts are tightened properly, and exposed GI/PVC pipes are also insulated. The cover reduces heat gain and helps maintain cooler water but does not function as an active cooling system.
